Victor’s Wednesday Selections – October 19th 2022

Hi all,

I’m heading to Navan for a couple of selections and there’s one from Kempton for you. I’ll be back on Friday.

Navan

3:20 – Trainer Eddie Lynam sets a poser as he saddles three of the 13 runners in this 5f handicap. Collective Power will be suited by the return to the minimum trip but probably not the rain softened ground. Gobi Star is more interesting as the 4-year-old posted a career best when winning a Down Royal maiden last month. He’s from a family that has done well for the trainer in handicap company and two of his siblings have won here in the past. Chris Hayes rode Gobi Star last time and he opts for the third Lynam runner Jon Riggens. The 4-year-old comes into the race fresher than most and posted a seasonal best when an encouraging 2 ½ length 5th of 13 at the Curragh 11-days ago. That was his first start for 3 months and he’s entitled to be sharper here. I think he’s the one they all have to beat.

Jon Riggens – 1pt win – 13/2 @ Bet365

3:55 – Dark Vega has yet to add to her Curragh racecourse debut success 12 months ago. However, the 3-year-old has been running with credit on most of her six starts this season. The 3-year-old put in a lesser effort when a 9-length 6th of 12 at Thurles 13-days. She had been shaping like a step up to 1m 4f would suit but I think her stamina just ran out last time. A return to a stiff 1m 2f looks ideal and provided she gets an evenly run race I can see her bouncing back to form. Colin Keane booked by an inform trainer so there’s plenty to like.

Dark Vega – 1pt win – 13/2 @ Bet365

Kempton

8:00 – Cairn Gorm shaped better than his 4 lengths 6th of 13 at Wolverhampton suggests. Dropped in from a high draw he was doing his best work at the finish. That was his first start on the all-weather and he takes drop in class here. He’s on fair mark if building on his latest effort.

Object ran poorly at Doncaster when last seen in action 67-days ago. Need to bounce back here but he won over C&D last November and his two best performances have come on the all-weather. Stall 10 isn’t ideal, but the yard has its horses in good form. Andrea Atzeni takes the ride and he’s 2-4 +3.00 when teaming up with trainers Freddie & Martyn Meade

Object – 1pt win – 12/1 @ Bet365

Cheers

John
