Hi all,
After a couple of days without selections, I’m back with selections from Gowran Park and Kempton.
Gowran Park
7:05 – Airgead didn’t beat a rival on his return from a 11 month absence at Leopardstown but was in much better form when 3 length 5th of 18 at Fairyhouse last month. Doing his best work at the finish that day he needs to improve again to win here but he’s now 13lb below his last winning mark and is effective on good ground.
1pt win – Airgead – 11/1 @ Coral
8:10 – Safecracker has been running well in 1m 2f/1m 4f handicaps and bounced back from a poor run at the Curragh (soft) when a ½-length 2nd of 6 at Leopardstown 6-days ago. He can race off the same mark here and has a favourites chance.
Colin Keane can’t do the weight on handicap debutant and recent Killarney maiden winner Malabu Drive for boss Ger Lyons. However, he is on board the Gordon Elliott trained Platinumcard. A useful performer on the flat when trained by Keith Dalgleish, winning four times in 2021. Never got competitive when 13th of 16 in Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot and didn’t seem at home at the track at Cartmel when a well beaten favourite back over hurdles last time. Better expected returned to the level with Keane booked.
1pt win – Platinumcard – 8/1 @ Bet365
Kempton
8:00 – Mille Miglia returned to form when a neck 2nd of 9 over C&D last month and is a definite contender off just 1lb higher. Tequilamockingbird made a winning all-weather/handicap debut at Lingfield two starts back. Wasn’t quite at the level of form back on the grass when 4th of 8 at Newbury last time. There could be more to come from the 3-year-old back on the synthetics with James Doyle booked.
Charlie Arthur is more exposed, but he does have each-way claims. He’s back to his last winning all-weather mark and he was a good 1 ¼ length 4th of 11 at Windsor last time 9-days ago. Shaped last time that he needed further than 1m 2f. Quick turnaround isn’t a problem as his form figures when returning with 15-days of his last start are 211211.
1pt each way – Charlie Arthur – 16/1 @ Paddy Power (paying 4 places 1/5 odds)
8:30 – A chance is taken that Ruskin Red is ready to roll after an eight month absence. The 5-year-old dead heated off today’s mark here last September over a furlong shorter and is handicapped to go close if fit enough.
1pt win – Ruskin Red – 11/1 @ Bet365
Cheers
John
