Victor’s Sunday Update – August 13th 2023

Hi all,

This afternoon’s Group 1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville looks a cracker with real depth.

We have the first three home from last season race Inspiral, Light Infantry &
Erevann.

Queen Anne  winner Triple Time and his stablemate mate Hi Royal who placed in 2,000 Guineas and Irish 2,000 Guineas in the spring.

The French 2,000 Guineas winner Marhaba Ya Sanafi. Ryan Moore an eyecatching jockey booking.

The winner of the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat here (7f) Good Guess.

Runner-up in the French Derby Big Rock.

I’m not sure you can back Inspiral with any confidence but the filly has the class to win this.

Will Triple Time like the deep ground? I’m not sure he will.

The 3-year-old Good Guess likes it at Deauville but a mile in this company will stretch his stamina.

By process of elimination I’m left with likely favourite BIG ROCK who should be suited by the drop back to a mile and soft ground. However, whilst I think he’s the most likely winner at around 5/2 he’s not being offered up at value odds. In this company I would be looking for more like 7/2.

I had a look at the Curragh card which looks competitive but I couldn’t find anything that really stood out.

Cheers

John
