Hi all,
A quiet start to the week but there is one race the racingtv.com Handicap at Nottingham (2:10) that has more than £10,000 on offer to the winner.
Nottingham
2:10 – Given the good prize money on offer to the winner (£18,039) it’s not surprising that this Class 3 handicap has attracted a good sized field of 14 handicap sprinters.
Fast Response loves the mud. A winner over C&D two starts back she followed up at Doncaster in a better race on Saturday. Had to see a 6lb penalty stopping her if in the same form on a quick turnround.
The 2-year-old California Gem is a fascinating contender. I know a juvenile was 4th in last year’s race. However, I don’t know how long it is since a 2-year-old beat the older horses in a handicap. The filly looked a big improver when winning a nursery over C&D (soft) two starts back and ran well when a 2 ¼ length 4th of 7 in a Deauville Listed race 8-days ago.
Interestingly Kevin Stott who rode California Gem to success over C&D is on board Ey Up Its Maggie. Now it’s possible he can’t do the weight on the juvenile but he’s back on board a filly who is 6lb lower than when winning at Leicester last October (soft). Granted her two runs this month have been poor but if she bounces back to her best, she’s on a good mark.
Four Adaay’s latest win came over C&D (good), from 2lb higher in May and the four year-old’s C&D figures are 321. Nicely treated but her best form has so far come in the spring and her recent efforts don’t inspire confidence that she’s going to return to winning ways.
Another well treated horse is the Blue De Vega. The 9-year-old is 9lb lower than when winning a Newbury handicap (5f) in April but is another not coming into the race in any sort of form.
Verdict:
Fast Response is the most likely winner. But Ey Up Its Maggie. Is a sporting each way selection at 14/1 & bigger.
Ey Up Its Maggie – 1pt each way – 14/1 @ Bet365 (paying 4 places).
Cheers
