The headline race on Monday is Yarmouth’s Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Stakes (4:00). The race sees fifteen fillies go in search of black type. Looking at the pace map for the race it should be run at a good gallop. That will suit my selection Goolwa. A winner of a Listed race over the distance at Bath last October. The 4-year-old returned from a 5 month absence with an encouraging 2 length 5th of 10 to Sam Cooke at Newbury 24-days ago. Doing her best work at the finish over 1m 4f she will be seen to better effect back over 1m 6f and with that run under her belt. Fingers crossed that the showers stay away I think she’s got solid claims.

That’s me done until Champions Day. I’m away for the rest of the week in Devon and aim to switch off from racing and betting. Well, to be precise I will be switching off from the day to day fare. I will of course be looking at Ascot’s Champions Day’s races but at a nice leisurely pace.
I’m hoping to get Saturday’s Champions Day Preview out on Friday evening. If not, it will be out on Saturday morning.
