Hi all,
Mondays with selections are a rarity in the winter months. Nonetheless, I’ve examined a Class 2 handicap (6:30) at Kempton, and both that race and the 2m handicap at 7:00 offer some noteworthy picks.
Kempton
6:30 – Symbol Of Light boasted a perfect 3-3 record on the tapeta under Charlie Appleby. Returning from a 518-day hiatus, the 4-year-old made an impressive debut for Julie Camacho, securing an excellent neck 4th place out of 10 in June at Newcastle against Lattam. Although the performance was promising, he couldn’t replicate it in his last outing, finishing last of 5 at Doncaster (1m 2f) on soft ground. The shift back to a mile and a synthetic surface is expected to showcase him in a more favorable manner. Whilst this is his first time on the tapeta surface, his dam excelled with a 2-2 record over C&D, and his half-sister also clinched a win here.
Symbol Of Light – 1pt win – 8/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
7:00 – I have my eye on two contenders here, looking to challenge the likely short-priced favorite, Perseus Way.
C’mon Kenny showcased resilience, overcoming a slow start to secure victory in a modestly run C&D handicap just 26 days ago. While facing a slightly better field with a 3lb increase, he’s only on his third start on the all-weather and has the potential to go well again of his new mark.
Duke Of Oxford rebounded from a lackluster performance two starts ago with a commendable 2 ½ length 7th place finish of 12 in a valuable handicap here (1m 3f) just 14 days ago behind Max Mayhem. Although he wasn’t in contention until the end, he displayed strong efforts in the final two furlongs. Venturing into new territory stamina wise, if he stays, I believe has potential off his current mark.
C’mon Kenny – 1pt win – 13/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
Duke Of Oxford – 1pt win – 17/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
Cheers
John
