Victor’s Breeders Cup Preview – November 4th 2023

Hi all,

Hopefully we’ll be heading into the Breeders Cup action after a profitable afternoon at Wetherby & Ascot.

Sunny weather, fast turf, and great horses. What’s not to like?

There are plenty of European challengers to cheer on

The highlight of what is a Steller card is the Breeders Cup Turf (9:50) which see’s Auguste Rodin takes on the likes of Mostahdaf, King Of Steel, Onesto and top American colt Up To The Mark who won a Grade 1 over a mile last time and takes a big step up in trip here.  It’s one of the best renewals of the race that I can remember and one to really get excited about.

Let’s get into the races that I have selections in.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – November 3rd 2023

Hi all,

There’s a veritable feast of top class racing this weekend. I don’t think it gets much better than today with 19 races live on ITV4.

On Saturday the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase (3.00) is the feature race of a seven race card at Wetherby.

Yesterday’s Wetherby card was cancelled due to parts of the track being waterlogged. It was dry and sunny there on Friday lunchtime so fingers crossed they should be able to race on Saturday.

There’s also a strong Ascot card on Saturday featuring two Premier Handicaps with £56,950 on offer to the winner.

ITV Racing are covering five races live from Wetherby and another five from Ascot this afternoon.

The attention switches across the Atlantic on Saturday evening to Day 2 of the Breeders Cup.

Sunny weather, fast turf, and great horses. It’s the greatest show on turf and nothing beats it in flat racing in my opinion.

You can see all this evening’s nice Championship races at the Breeders Cup live on ITV this evening.

I have had a look at nine of the ten races on ITV and I’m going to start Saturday’s two part preview at Wetherby. My Wetherby & Ascot betting advice can be found at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Sunday Preview – October 29th 2023

Hi all,

There’s a good Sunday card at Aintree this afternoon. We have Leg 8 Of The Veterans’ Chase Series (1:25). The jumps race of the weekend in the Grade 2 Jewson Fast Set Finish Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase (2:00) and the Class 2 Jewson Handicap Hurdle (3:10).

Besides the Aintree races we also have decent looking Class 3 handicap chase at Wincanton (3:29).

Victor’s Saturday Preview – October 28th 2023

Hi all,

Not surprisingly Saturday’s Newbury was called off on Friday morning due to a waterlogged track. Doncaster couldn’t race on Friday but there’s a chance it’s Futurity Trophy fixture can take place if the track doesn’t get more than the forecast overnight rain.

No problems with Day 2 of Cheltenham’s Open Meeting. The raced at jump HQ’s yesterday and the only surprise to me was that going was good, good to soft in places.  I was expecting it to be softer.  I only got back from my break on Friday evening so haven’t had any chance to look at the Cheltenham action but the last two handicaps aside it looked a fairly punter friendly day.

ITV Racing are covering racing from three courses on Saturday. Four races from Cheltenham and three from Doncaster. The loss of the Newbury card means ITV are also taking the Edinburgh Gin Chase (A Limited Handicap) (1:29) live from Kelso this afternoon.

It’s good ground at Cheltenham, Heavy at Doncaster, if they survive a precautionary inspection at 7:30am and soft at Kelso.

I’m starting today’s short preview at Doncaster where the highlight is the Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes (2:10).

Victor’s Sunday Preview – October 22nd 2023

Hi all,

Not a bad day’s sport across Britain & Ireland on Sunday and I have selections from Limerick and Leopardstown.

The highlight is the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National (3:40) at Limerick. It’s heavy ground at Limerick which means the day’s most valuable race, which has £53,097 on offer to the winner, has just got 13 runners.

There’s a competitive flat card at Leopardstown. The highlights of a seven race card are two Listed races: the Knockaire Stakes (2:10) and Trigo Stakes (3:20). Although the most valuable race is the October Premier Handicap (5:05) which has attracted a field of 19 runners for the 1m 4f contest.

This side of the Irish Sea there’s a competitive jumps card at Kempton where the feature race is a 2m Listed Hurdle (4:05). Up at Sedgefield highlight of a seven race card is the Durham National Handicap Chase (4:25).

Without further ado let’s move onto Sunday’s action starting at Limerick and the Munster National.

Victor’s Champions Day Preview – Saturday October 21st 2023

Hi all,

It’s Champions Day. Doncaster’s November meeting may be the historic final curtain of the flat season, but Champions Day has now become the de facto end of flat season.

I have previewed all six races on Champions Day which you can watch them all live on ITV Racing.

Victor’s Friday Selections – October 2oth 2023

Hi all,

Uttoxeter and Fakenham were both abandoned this morning they joined Haydock which had already been called off.  That leaves just Redcar which must pass an 8:30am inspection to see if they can race. If Redcar can’t race there won’t be any turf racing this afternoon and we’ll be left with just all-weather cards at Newcastle and Dundalk. I had a selection on the Fakenham card which now means I’m just left with one race at Dundalk this evening.
