Victor’s Aintree and Limerick Preview – Sunday October 23rd 2022

Hi all,

The week finishes with some excellent racing and ITV4 are covering the best of the action from Aintree and Limerick where the feature race is the Ladbrokes Munster National (3:35).

The feature race at Aintree is the Grade 2 Jewson Old Roan Handicap Chase (2.40). There’s been rain at Aintree which has eased the ground to good, good to soft in places. The rain that fell over the last few days across Ireland arrived at Limerick and the ground there is being described as yielding to soft.

Besides the Grade 2 Old Roan Handicap Chase there’s also Leg 8 of the Veterans’ Handicap Chase Series (2:05) and there’s a competitive looking Class 2 handicap hurdle (3:15).

Inside today’s main piece I preview three of the big races at Aintree and the Munster National. As ever today’s betting advice can be found at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – October 22nd 2022

Hi all,

Yesterday was garbage I can’t think of a better word to describe it. Things can only get better today.

There’s good action across both codes on Saturday. The highlight of a seven race card at Doncaster is the Group 1 Vertem Futurity. It’s Newbury’s final flat card of the season. The feature races of a seven race card are pair of Group 3s, the Horris Hill Stakes (1.50) and St. Simon Stakes (2.25).

It’s day two of Cheltenham’s Showcase Meeting. ITV are covering four races from the home of National Hunt racing including three interesting handicaps. The race of the day though is the Group 1 Vertem Futurity at Doncaster.

I have had an in-depth look at seven races across Britain & Ireland. Today’s betting advice can be found at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Friday Preview – October 21st 2022

Hi all,

Spangled Mac flew down the outside but failed by a head at Wolverhampton on Thursday evening. It was so frustrating as a stride after the line the 3-year-old was in front. It’s fine margins in this game.

Cheltenham is back on Friday with day one of its Showcase Meeting. Besides Cheltenham there’s the first of two days of flat racing at Doncaster and Newbury and there’s the Group 3 Mercury Stakes (7:30) at Dundalk. So, there’s plenty of decent action over both codes.

I haven’t quite got my National Hunt hat on yet and it’s probably wise to tread carefully punting wise for the next couple of weeks. That said I have a few fancies for the jumps racing over the next three days.

In today’s preview I have had a look at four races at Cheltenham and a handful of races at Doncaster and Newbury. My betting advice can be found at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Monday Selection – October 10th 2022

Hi all,

The headline race on Monday is Yarmouth’s Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Stakes (4:00). The race sees fifteen fillies go in search of black type.  Looking at the pace map for the race it should be run at a good gallop. That will suit my selection Goolwa.  A winner of a Listed race over the distance at Bath last October. The 4-year-old returned from a 5 month absence with an encouraging 2 length 5th of 10 to Sam Cooke at Newbury 24-days ago. Doing her best work at the finish over 1m 4f she will be seen to better effect back over 1m 6f and with that run under her belt. Fingers crossed that the showers stay away I think she’s got solid claims.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – October 8th 2022

Hi all,

On Saturday besides the Cesarewitch Handicap the Newmarket highlight is the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes (3:00)

It’s the final two days of racing at York for the season with Saturday’s big race the normally ultra-competitive Coral Sprint Trophy (3:15).  It’s also the concluding day of Chepstow’s ‘Jumps Season Opener’.

In today’s preview I have looked at the four races being broadcast live on ITV on Saturday afternoon.  Plus, a few other races where I have selections. Saturday’s betting advice can be found as ever at the end of the main piece.
