Victor’s Sunday Preview – November 20th 2022

Hi all,

Despite a 20p Rule 4 deduction Boothill’s win at Ascot saved the day.

Inside today’s main piece you’ll find my thoughts on Sunday’s action on ITV.

If it’s quality racing you’re after, then the Punchestown card is for you. However, there are several interesting handicap puzzles on the Exeter card.

My selections can be found at the end of today’s preview.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – November 19th 2022

Hi all,

It’s a case of small fields at Ascot. The star act is of course the return of Constitution Hill in the Grade 2 Coral Hurdle (2.40). With the likes of L’Homme Presse and Edwardstone also making their seasonal returns on the card. The meeting seems likely to steal the headlines away from Haydock where it’s Betfair Chase Day. That would be a shame because we have Gold Cup winner A Plus Tard making his seasonal return in the Betfair Chase (3:00). Haydock’s seven race card is also superior to Ascot’s from a betting perspective.

Inside today’s main piece I look at the best of the action from both tracks and today’s selections and betting advice can be found at the end of the preview.

Victor’s Wednesday Selections – November 16th 2022

Hi all,

Another quiet start to the week but that tends to be the case during the winter months. Occasionally a day tempts me in and that’s the case on Wednesday.

The headline race is a Class 3 novice chase at Warwick (2:45). It’s a potential cracker too with Grade 1 Hurdle winners Jonbon and Monmiral both making their debuts over fences.  Smart handicap hurdler West Cork who was runner-up on his chase debut at the track completes a three runner field.

The heavy rain has arrived in time with Warwick reporting the track as good to soft, soft in places on Tuesday evening.

Also on the Warwick card is leg 10 of the Veterans’ Chase Series (3:15). The race has attracted a decent line-up too.

Inside today’s main piece I have previewed the veterans’ chase and I also have a few fancies on the Kempton and Southwell cards.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – November 12th 2022

Hi all,

It’s Paddy Power Gold Cup Day at Cheltenham on Saturday. With the big race one of the big race highlights of the autumn. Those four days in March also get a look in as there are also Triumph Hurdle and Arkle trials on the seven race card.

The ITV cameras are covering another four races live from Cheltenham this afternoon. Plus, two races from Lingfield’s all-weather card: The Golden Rose Stakes (2:35) and the Churchill Stakes (3:10).

Inside today’s main piece I concentrate on the action on ITV from Cheltenham and Lingfield. As ever Saturday’s betting advice can be found at the end of the preview.

Victor’s Wednesday Selections – November 9th 2022

Hi all,

After a couple of days without selections I’m back today.

It’s not often that Bangor-on-Dee is the standout meeting, but it is on Wednesday. The feature race of an excellent looking seven race card a Listed Mares only Novice Chase (1:25).  Occasionally during the winter there’s a midweek Class 2 handicap chase with a decent sized that gets me excited. And there’s one such race at Bangor at this afternoon and it’s the Paul Ferguson Jumpers To Follow Handicap Chase (For The Sir Charles Lowther Plate) (2:00).

The most valuable race of the day though is on the all-weather at Kempton this evening. The Unibet London Sprint Series (Final) Handicap (8:00) is the feature race of a bumper nine race card. Given there’s £80,000 in guaranteed prize money its not surprising that the race has attracted a maximum field size of 12.

I have selections from both Bangor and Kempton.
