Victor’s Friday Preview – June 9th 2023

Hi all,

There are eight meetings across Britain & Ireland on Friday.  Although the most valuable race today is the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race (5:20) at Fairyhouse. The race of the day looks to be a competitive looking 2m 4 ½ f handicap hurdle (2.50) at Market Rasen.

Victor’s Thursday Preview – June 8th 2023

Hi all,

It’s been a dreadful start to the month but with Royal Ascot less than two weeks away things will turn around.

Things are starting to get tough but given the odds were playing losing runs like this are not unexpected.

Statistically we can expect losing runs of 50+ and the service has had losing runs of 52, 53 and 57 in the past 10 years.

I know it’s hard when your in the middle of a losing run like this but you have to keep your nerve and remember that profits and indeed losses have to be measured over the year not a a few days.

Like Wednesday the pick of today’s action is across the Irish Sea. There’s a seven race card at Leopardstown including two Listed races; the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Glencairn Stakes (6.30) and King George V Cup (7.30).

Hamilton and Chelmsford have a Class 2 handicap on their cards and both races are worth a second look.

Victor’s Wednesday Preview – June 7th 2023

Hi all,

In doing a preview of Wednesday’s action for the Daily Punt. I rather unexpectedly I found a few fancies on Wednesday. So, to kick start the month I’m taking a bit of a swing at the few today in what looks more like Saturday punting wise.

Don’t get me wrong, this evening’s Curragh meeting aside it’s not the highest quality wise but competitive enough and I have a fair few of interest and not just at the Curragh.

Today’s selections and betting advice can be found at the end of today’s preview.

Victor’s Derby Day Preview – Saturday June 3rd 2023

Hi all,

It’s Derby Day with Flat racing’s ‘blue riband’ race scheduled to get underway at 1.30pm to avoid a clash with the FA Cup final.

This year’s race is as fascinating as we have seen in recent years and has very open look to it. It’s just a shame that the threat of chaos before the race will spoil it.

It’s an eight race at Epsom this afternoon and ITV will be covering all eight races live this afternoon. The first two on the main channel and the other six on ITV4.  After the Derby itself the card lack quality but if you like handicaps, like me, your in for a treat.

The best of the handicaps is the Aston Martin Dash (3.20).  This year’s renewal which has £100,0000 in guaranteed prize money will see a maximum field of 20 racing downhill over fastest 5f in the sport.

Victor’s Friday Epsom Preview – June 2nd 2023

Hi all,

The Epsom Derby Festival gets underway this afternoon.  Not only do we have the third Classic of the season, the Betfred Oaks (4:30) to look forward to too. The undercard also has a cracking renewal of the Group 1 Coronation Cup (3.10) as the older horse’s race over the Derby trip.

In today’s preview you can read my thoughts on the seven race card with the first five races being live on ITV.

Victor’s Monday Preview – May 29th 2023

Hi all,

A poor day yesterday means we’re breaking even on the month. I think there have been a few near misses which would have enabled us to make a small profit in May and give us a third successive winning month. The service is still well up on the year and we could still end May in the black with a winner on Monday.

Monday’s not normally a day for selections for me but it’s a Bank Holiday and the racing isn’t too bad. It’s my final selection of the month so hopefully we can end it on a winning note. I will be back for Oaks Day on Friday.

I have previewed the best of the races at Redcar, Ballinrobe and Cartmel. I’m not going into today too heavily today so should the worse happen and there is no winner it will only be a small lose on the month.

Victor’s Sunday Preview – May 28th 2023

Hi all,

A big day for Irish racing this afternoon with the highlights being the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Irish 1,000 Guineas.

This side of the Irish Sea there’s £40,000 in guaranteed prize money on offer in the Clarke Chase (Handicap) at Uttoxeter.

In today’s preview I’m looking at the best of the action from the Curragh and Uttoxeter. Starting with the two Group 1’s at the Curragh.
