Victor’s St Leger Festival Preview -Day 1 – Wednesday September 7th 2022

Hi all,

Doncaster’s St Leger Festival gets underway on Wednesday. The Leger Legends Classified Stakes (3.00) will be the highlight for many racegoers on day one of the St Leger Festival. However, the Group 3 Japan Racing Association Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes (3.35) and the Listed Cazoo Scarbrough Stakes (4.10) are the quality contests of a seven-race card on Town Moor.

There’s plenty of rain forecast for the next few days and if it does materialize then we could see some upsets to the form book. I will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast over the next few days.

Victor’s Goodwood & Galway Selections – Tuesday 6th September 2022

Hi all,

A busy week ahead with Doncaster’s St Leger Festival beginning on Wednesday culminating on Saturday with the latest running of the final English Classic of 2022 season. On Saturday’s it’s also the start of Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown which ends on Sunday at the Curragh. The highlights of an excellent Saturday card are the Group 1 Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes (3.45) and the Group 1 The Coolmore America “Justify” Matron Stakes (4.55).

There’s plenty of rain forecast for both tracks and if it does materialize then we could see some upsets to the form book.

The Listed Oyster Stakes (6:40) is the feature race of an eight-race card at Galway this evening. The best of the action this side of the Irish Sea is at Goodwood. The Sussex track hosts Tuesday’s most valuable race the British EBF 100,000 2yo Fillies Series Final (4:10) which has £100,000 in guaranteed prize money.  Add in a couple of Class 2 handicaps and you have decent card for a Tuesday.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – September 3rd 2022

Hi all,

There’s a busy month of big race action starting this afternoon with Haydock’s Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup (3.30).

Besides the Sprint Cup Haydock’s supporting card is good. We have the Group 3 Superior Mile Stakes (1.45), the Listed Ascendant Stakes (1.15) and two valuable 1m 6f handicaps including the Old Borough Cup (2:55).

Kempton’s seven-race card features the Group 3 September Stakes (2.05) and the Unibet London Mile Series Final (2:40).

Handicaps that are the highlights of Ascot’s card. There’s the National Racehorse Week Handicap (3:10) run over 7f which has £80,000 in guaranteed prize money. Thirty-five minutes later it’s the Lavazza Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (3:45) with £100,000 in guaranteed prize money.

ITV viewers have a great afternoon of sport to look forward to with the terrestrial broadcaster covering five races from Haydock, and two each from Kempton and Ascot.

I won’t be able to watch the racing live though as I’m at a non-racing event. I will have to wait to watch the race replays when I get in.

As ever today’s betting advice is at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Bank Holiday Monday Preview – August 29th 2022

Hi all,

Although I was happy with the 13/2 about Savvy Victory. I thought we were unlucky not to have two winners on Sunday.

I normally leave the August Bank Holiday Monday racing alone as its no longer on TV.  However, I have had a look at the afternoon’s action, and I have several fancies. Starting at today’s feature meeting at Ripon.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – August 27th 2022

Hi all,

Music Society went agonisingly close to winning at Thirsk yesterday. He came with what looked like a winning run inside the final furlong but just couldn’t get past Runninwild. Mind you Faylaq’s 40/1 fourth placed effort in the Lanark Silver Bell ensured a profitable day for Friday’s selections.

On to Saturday action. The ITV cameras are covering the best of the action from Goodwood, Beverley, and Newmarket as part of an eight-race programme. It’s the first of two-days of action on terrestrial tv.

Inside today’s main piece I preview the best of the action from Beverley and Goodwood. Plus, there’s a look at the Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh.  As ever today’s betting advice is at the end the preview.

Victor’s Friday Selections – August 26th 2022

Hi all,

I’m back after a quiet week on the tipping front. The Lanark Silver Bell Handicap at Hamilton is the highlight of Friday’s racing. It’s reputedly one the oldest sporting trophies in the world. Although the present trophy dates to the 17th century.

As the name suggests the race used to be run at the now defunct Lanark Racecourse which closed its doors for the last time in 1977. For over 30-years there was no race until it was restarted at Hamilton in 2008.

With guaranteed prize money of £100,000 and the upgrading of the race to a Heritage Handicap means a maximum field of fifteen runners have been declared for Hamilton’s richest race of the season.

Today I have previewed the Lanark Silver Bell and I have selections from that race also a couple from Thirsk.
