As I mentioned in yesterday’s preview it’s a quiet day for me on the selections front. Indeed, three of them are in the Betfair Hurdle and in truth it could have been four. Let’s hope I haven’t left out the wrong one.

There’s £155,000 in guaranteed prize money for the Betfair Hurdle (3.15) at Newbury. The Newbury undercard also contains the Grade 2 Betfair Denman Chase (2.05) and the Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase (2.40). The latter two races tend not to attract big fields, and nothing has changed this year with both the Denman Chase and the Game Spirit now having five runners.
Along with four races from Newbury ITV was due to show three races from Warwick sadly that card has been cancelled due to waterlogging. Thankfully It was called off early and I didn’t needlessly look through the card.

In Sunday’s preview, focusing on Day 2 of the Dublin Racing Festival and the second day at Musselburgh, I’ll concentrate on races where I have selections due to time constraints.
ITV Racing will be featuring five races from Leopardstown and five from Musselburgh in a comprehensive ten-race program on the main ITV channel this Sunday.

Janet my partner was in hospital for some surgery on Friday, so this preview isn’t as detailed as I would like.
A bumper day of high class racing its Trials Day at Cheltenham and there’s Premier Racing Day at Doncaster. The highlights of an eight-race card are three Grade 2 contests and the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase (3.15). The latter race offers £100,000 in guaranteed prize money and is likely to be one the most competitive races at either track.
ITV Racing cover five races from Cheltenham and a further three from Doncaster on the main ITV channel. Sadly, only three of the ITV races have more than seven runners. Mind you, small fields don’t have to mean unexciting races.

A midweek treat for punters today with the valuable Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase (2:50) being run at Gowran Park this afternoon. It looks cracker of a race and real winter warmer.
There’s also a decent card at Huntingdon with a Mares’ Listed Chase and Pertemps Hurdle Series Qualifier the highlights of a seven-race card.
