Victor’s Saturday Selections – July 1st 2023

Hi all,

Given we looked down and out before Royal Ascot it’s been a superb turnaround and yesterday Tudor City enabled the service to snatch a small profit on the month.

ITV are covering seven races from the Curragh, Cartmel & Uttoxeter on Sunday afternoon. The highlight being the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (3:40). Besides the big race there are four premier handicaps on the Curragh card and I intend to do a Sunday preview my chest infection permitting.

As promised, here’s Saturday’s selections and betting advice.

Victor’s Saturday Preview – July 1st 2023

Hi all,

The Jenningsbet Northumberland Plate (2.05) at Newcastle is Saturday’s betting highlight. Trueshan defied a huge weight to win last year’s renewal. There’s no Trueshan in this year’s line-up but the race has a competitive look with 19 set to meet the starter.

Besides the big betting race there’s a good undercard which includes the Plate consolation race the Northumberland Vase (1.30) and the Group 3 JenningsBet Chipchase Stakes (12:55).

ITV are covering four races from Newcastle and three from Newmarket on a seven race programme on Saturday afternoon.

I’m still under the weather with a chest infection and my concentration levels are not great as I would like.

Inside today’s main piece I have looked at the races live on ITV. Plus, there are some selections from the Curragh.  I’m sending out to today’s preview for you to read and digest. Saturday’s selections and betting advice will be with you tomorrow morning.

Victor’s Friday Preview – June 30th 2023

Hi all,

Apart from Royal Ascot it’s been a tough month for the service. Indeed, thank the lord for the royal meeting it would have been a poor June otherwise.  I had a winner at Newmarket on Thursday, and it would be nice to end the month with another winner and maybe even end the month in black.

It’s Day two of Newcastle’s Northumberland Plate meeting. The highlight’s of this evening’s racing are the Gosforth Park Sprint Cup Handicap (6:00) and the Group 3 Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes (6:35). The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival gets underway at the Curragh this evening. It’s a seven race card but for a festival the action isn’t of the highest quality. That said there are some competitive handicaps on the card that I have fancies in.

Inside today’s preview you can read my thoughts on both Newcastle races and the best of the action at the Curragh. Today’s selections can be found at the end of the main piece.

Victor’s Thursday Selections – June 29th 2023

Hi all,

Newcastle’s three-day Northumberland Plate meeting gets under way this afternoon. The feature race of seven-race card at Newcastle is the Class 2 Seaton Delaval Handicap (3.20).   Besides the Newcastle race I have a couple of fancies on this afternoon’s card at Newmarket.

Victor’s Wednesday Selections – June 28th 2023

Hi all,

My first selections since Royal Ascot. It’s Carlisle’s most valuable fixture of its flat season. The feature race on the card is the historic Carlisle Bell Handicap (3.50). The Cumberland Plate (4.20) and Listed Eternal Stakes (4.50) also feature on a seven-race card.

Across the Irish Sea there’s also Listed action at Naas where the highlight of an eight race evening card is the Naas Oaks Trial (7:00).

Victor’s Royal Ascot Preview – Day 5

Hi all,

The final day of Royal Ascot 2023 has arrived. You wait for 12 months for the best five days of flat racing anywhere in the world and it’s over in a blink of an eye. I think we can safely say we’ve had five memorable days of racing which I will go through in detail next week.

Whatever happens on the final day of the meeting. Those of you who took up the £5 on offer to join Victor Value for Royal Ascot made an excellent profit for a very modest investment.

I’m kicking myself for not putting up Okita Soushi in yesterday’s Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap but apart from that I’m happy with the way my selections have gone this week.

Right without further ado onto my final Royal Ascot preview.

Victor’s Royal Ascot Preview – Day 4

Hi all,

We’re entering the final furlong of this year’s Royal Ascot. The Day 4 highlight is the Group 1 Coronation Stakes (4:20). Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Tahiyra is set to go off odds on for the race. I really like the filly but on quick ground I think she might be vulnerable and I’m taking her on.

Victor’s Royal Ascot Preview – Day 2

Hi all,

Heavy rain arrived at Ascot before the first day of the royal meeting, with around 10mm of rain hitting the track overnight. The going was changed to good, good to soft in places on the round track before the start of the first race. I’m writing this preview before the start of racing, so I don’t know whether its even easier ground than is being described.

It should be dry on Tuesday night although there could be some showers on Wednesday afternoon. If Ascot misses the showers, it should be quicker ground today.  Well, that’s what I’m hoping for.

As was the case yesterday I have once more previewed all seven races on the card and Wednesday’s selections and betting advice can be found at the end of the main piece.
