Victor’s Saturday Preview – August 11th 2023

Hi all,

This afternoon’s Phoenix Stakes (4:40) isn’t the only Group 1 this weekend. On Sunday it’s the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville and it’s shaping up into a cracker for the most prestigious 1m race run in France during the flat season. There’s a mighty purse of £505,664 on offer to the winner of the race.

The Shergar Cup takes centre stage in Britain today. All six races from the Shergar Cup are being covered live on ITV4 as well as two from Haydock and one from Newmarket. There’s also the bonus of the broadcaster taking the big Irish Group 1 race live.  So, if the Shergar Cup isn’t your cup of tea you have several other ITV4 races to get stuck into.

As ever I have previewed to some extent all ten races live this afternoon on ITV4.

Victor’s Sunday Preview – August 6th 2023

Hi all,

It’s the end of a long and ultimately disappointing week. Monday & Tuesday were profitable, but it went downhill from then onwards.  In truth I tended to overthink things for much last week and just seemed to get the going and the draw wrong.

Plenty of my selections ran well, particularly early in the week. Sadly, there were too many poor picks for my liking.

Goodwood may be over for another 12 months but there’s a final day of racing at the Galway Festival.

Haydock is due to stage another leg of the Sky Bet Sunday Series, but the card must survive a precautionary 7am morning inspection to see if it can go ahead.

I’m hoping to finish the week on a winning note, and I have some fancies at Galway. Plus, I take a quick look at the Haydock card for anyone thinking of having a bet on that card.

Victor’s Goodwood and Galway Preview – Saturday August 5th 2023

Hi all,

I’m writing this preview before racing on Friday, so I don’t know how yesterday’s selections fared but hopefully the service was back among the winners.

Plenty of things have confounded me so far this week. It’s just been a tough week and I really haven’t managed to get my eye so far.

Thankfully most of my strongest fancies are due to run over the next few days so there’s plenty of time to turn things round.

It’s the final day of Glorious Goodwood and if the weather forecasters are right the weather is going to be anything but glorious. Mind you I’m hoping the rain does arrive as I have big fancy in the Stewards Cup who needs genuinely soft ground.

ITV are covering four races from Goodwood and two from Newmarket this afternoon. I have looked at five of ITV races plus the Galway feature race.

At the end of today’s review, you’ll find selections for both Goodwood and Galway.
