Hi all,
It’s day two of Killarney’s July Festival and there are three competitive handicaps that are worth a second look.
Killarney
6:45 – Dragon Of Malta ran ok on his second start of the season when a5 length 6th of 9 at Limerick last month. A former C&D winner he’s dropping down the handicap and Colin Keane 1-1 on the 6-year-old has been booked and he shouldn’t be far away.
Dragon Of Malta – 1pt win – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
7:20 – Grecian Slipper and Satin were separated by ¾ length when 2nd and 4th respectively in the Ulster Oaks Fillies & Mares Handicap at Down Royal 24-days ago. Today’s extra half furlong will suit both fillies, but Satin is a 3-year-old and maybe capable of the more improvement of the pair. In addition, her trainer Jessica Harrington has saddled the winner of the race in the last two years and can land the hat trick.
Satin – 1pt win – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
7:50 – Morph Speed has improved with each of his four starts this season and was a good length 4th of 13 at Cork (1m 4f) last month. He was doing his best work at the finish last time but that was over 1m 4f and he steps up to 2m 1f here. A former course winner so no issues with the track and if he stays today’s longer trip, he should go close.
No Thanks hasn’t been seen since falling over hurdles at Navan in September. The 7-year-old finished a 1 ¼ length 5th of 12 in last years race and can now race off 2lb lower. Fitness must be taken on trust but if he’s ready to roll after his long absence he’s handicapped to be competitive.
No Thanks – 1pt win – 14/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
Morph Speed – 1pt win – 13/2 @ Bet365.
Cheers
John
