Lingfield
Military Order will be tough to beat in the Lingfield Derby Trial (3:35) but at the prices I can’t let Waipiro go unbacked.
3:35 – Waipiro – 1pt win – 12/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
Ascot
A couple of races at Ascot to get stuck into. Timeless Melody looks on a workable mark on handicap debut in the 2:05 but at the prices I’m taking a chance with another handicap debutant in Beccara Rose.
In truth I could back six in the Victoria Cup (2:40 and still not find the winner. Anyway, it’s a race I like, and I have gone with three: Kingdom Come, Totally Charming and Rhoscolyn.
2:05 – Beccara Rose – 1pt win – 12/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
2:40 – Kingdom Come – 1pt win – 11/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes, Totally Charming – 1pt win – 6/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes and Rhoscolyn – 1pt win – 25/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
Haydock
A couple of competitive handicap hurdles that I’m interested in at Haydock this afternoon. In the 1:35 I’m going with a couple of thorough stayers in Pounding Poet & Gentleman At Arms
The Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle (3:15). Brentford Hope might be just to well handicapped for his rivals but at 7/2 he’s skinny enough and I can let him win at that price. Washington might not be the most straight forward but he’s on a workable mark. Nibiru needs to bounce back from a poor run at Aintree last time and I’m happy to take a chance that he will in the returning cheekpieces.
1:35 – Pounding Poet – 1pt win – 12/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes and Gentleman At Arms – 1pt win -14/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes
3:15 – Washington – 1pt win – 10/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes and Nibiru – 1pt win – 14/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes.
