Victor’s Wednesday Selections – July 13th 2022

Hi all,

Four seconds yesterday made for a frustrating evening for the service. Surely the cards are going to fall right sooner rather than later.  I have a handful of selections today from Catterick and Killarney for you today.

Catterick

2:55 – Master Richard made all for a very comfortable success at York 5-days ago. That was an apprentice race which means he doesn’t have a penalty to carry here. It looks like it could be a canny bit of planning by trainer Ann Duffield. Unlike last time he’s likely to face pace pressure. The likes of Langholm and Muntadab both like to go forward, and you have Redrosezorro and Gometra Ginty who are usually ridden prominently among the eight runners. It could worth looking at horse who can take advantage of the forecast strong pace. Abduction will be one those coming off the pace. The 4-year-old’s two career wins have come on the all-weather, he’s 0-12 on the grass, but he’s shaped well on all three starts since joining the Grant Tuer yard, including when a 1 ½ length 5th of 12 at Carlisle last time. He didn’t stay a mile that day so the drop back to 7f is a plus. There’s a race to be won with him off his present mark when the cards fall right.

Killarney

6:40 – Cairn Rouge Stakes (Listed) – 1m

The most valuable race of the day either side of the Irish Sea. Panama Red a useful 2-year-old hasn’t reached the best of her 2-year-old form. Well below her best in the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time but had shaped with more promise the time before when a 2 ¼ length 5th of 11 to History in a Group 3.

Cigamia gained her second career success when winning a minor race over C&D two starts back. Before posting a career best when an excellent 4th of 28 in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot. Comes into the race in good form and looks the one to beat.

The inform Joseph O’Brien saddles a couple the best of who could be Voice Of Angels who showed she’s a useful filly when winning a Navan two starts back. Ran well below her best in Listed company at Longchamp last time but the first time cheekpieces are called for which could see her back to form.

7:40 – You can make cases for last time out Sligo winner Gracesolution and Intend who was 1 length 4th to her last time and now gets 3lb from the winner.

Estepona Sun who made a good stable debut for Charlie Byrnes when a short-head 2nd of 19 at Navan 4-days ago and is on a winnable mark.  Han Solo doesn’t win very often 1-22 but is now lib below his last winning mark and didn’t get the clearest of runs when a 3 ¼ length 4th of 15 at Listowel last month. Stamina for 1m 3f must be proven but he looks worth a try at the trip.

Tudor Manor put in an improved performance on his handicap debut when a nose second of 15 at Limerick last time. The 6-year-old stays the trip goes on good ground and has only had four starts on the flat. He’s got a good enough draw in stall 7 and the very inform Declan McDonagh takes over in the saddle.
