Until the beginning of April the number of selections outside the weekend are few and far between. That is all about change as we come to very period between now and mid-May. To get us all in the mood I have a selection from this afternoon’s flat card Navan.

4:00 – Jake Coen is one of the most promising 7lb apprentices in Ireland and he’s been booked by trainer Dermot Weld to ride Port Sunlight. A winner at two, Port Sunlight couldn’t add to that success last season but did run well when a ¾ length 2nd of 13 at Galway last July and when a 2 -length 3rd of 14 at Listowel, under today’s jockey, in September. The 4-year-old shapes like the step up to 1m 5f will suit and if she’s ready to toll after 187-day layoff won’t be far away.
